Starvy Creek has been home to traditional Bluegrass music festivals for over three decades.  Don and Bobbie Day started their first annual festival in July of 1986, then a few short years later, added a fall show in September.  They continued this tradition with their family until this past year in 2022 when they announced that they were going to retire the festival.

I first attended Starvy Creek in July of 1989 at the age of 13.  I had been to only a couple of other festivals up to that point, and as many others like me, I was hooked on Bluegrass music and everything about the festival scene, from the camping, jamming, meeting new friends, and hopefully some day, getting to play on a stage in a band!  Well, with dreams and a banjo, and many people along the way to help me, God allowed my dreams to come to fruition!

Through many years traveling the Bluegrass highway as a professional musician, I had always dreamed that I would be able to one day start and build a festival of my own, to pass on the tradition of our music and the joy of reuniting with friends sharing the same common bond through our treasured music.  Once again, God is bringing this dream to reality!

Upon news of their retirement, I approached the Day Family about the idea of letting someone else continue to promote these annual festivals, and with their blessing, they graciously allowed us, the McDaris family, to host the festivals from this point forward!

Our desire is to bring the same level of integrity and entertainment to the Starvy Creek festivals as the Day family has brought for these past 37 years.  Along with my family, we invite you to come and enjoy the family friendly atmosphere and great traditional Bluegrass music that we all love so much!!
